Martin Luther King Day of service

For Martin Luther King day this year, we will be assembling snack packs for the Breathing Room Foundation, based locally in Elkins Park. The Breathing Room will distribute these to bags to children battling cancer and their siblings as they navigate the treatment process. To kick off the process, we are looking for snack donations- small bottles of water, juice boxes, granola bars, Goldfish, cookies, raisins, crackers, chips, and general comfort food that keeps kids happy (note- no hard candy).

Notes of encouragement for those receiving treatment will also be placed in the snack pack, and would also be appreciated. Per the Breathing Room, " Your colorful handwritten “Have a Good Day” or “Thinking of You” note will remind our BRF families that we are thinking of them." Note- this is a great activity if you want to get your kids involved! Please note- we'll take either simple snack donations, pre-packaged snack packs already assembled, or just simple notes.

Anything you can provide will be appreciated. Donations can be dropped off on my front porch- 138 Central Ave in North Hills. We’re hoping to have a second drop off location at the Abington Township Building soon.

As always, the Board of Commissioners will be holding their tribute to MLK on Monday, January 18. Info on that virtual ceremony can be found here.
